Lake & Metro Clubs

Our biggest challenge this season is to reduce the size of our group to meet capacity limits on the buses and in the chalets.

With a throwback to the 1970’s (ask a veteran instructor!) we are bringing back the Lake and Metro Clubs. Before Blizzard went to one area each week, we had two clubs that went to different areas each week. In the 2020 version, the Lake and Metro Clubs will be on alternating weeks.

Why? Alternating weeks offers a built-in 14-day break in case of potential exposure to COVID-19. The schedule enables families to watch for symptoms and get tested as necessary before the next trip.

Saturday and Sunday will each have a Lake Club and a Metro Club grouped by bus stop. More information is available on our Transportation and Bus Stops pages. Check out this short video!

Program Fees have been slashed as much as $150 to reflect the reduced trips. Weekly Trip Fees will go up to about $86 because of less bus capacity, and each member will only pay for up to six five trips this season. Please check our program pricing for more info, and email the office with any questions.

Snowsports Areas

We will visit most of the areas you know and love! Mount Kato, Powder Ridge, Trollhaugen, Welch Village and Wild Mountain are all on the schedule.

Afton Alps will unfortunately not be hosting most groups, including Blizzard, this season due to Vail Resorts’ COVID-19 policies. We look forward to returning to Afton next season.

We will not make our annual March trip to Spirit Mountain in Duluth, MN. We felt the 2-1/2 hour bus ride would be too long and too costly with reduced bus capacity.

Special Events

We will not host our annual Picnic Day hotdog lunches this season. Long lines and a buffet line are not COVID-friendly.

To reduce mixing across bus pods and between the Lake & Metro clubs, there will be no Teen Bonfire Night this season.

What’s the same?

Not everything is changing! We still have:

  • Your weekly invitations!
  • RSVP each week by Thursdays at 8:00 PM!
  • Skiing and snowboarding at your favorite MN Snowsports Areas!
  • And much, much more!
